There are two purposes for this newsletter community. First, I hope you are inspired to write better and more frequently. Second, I hope it helps you to begin to think and see the world more creatively.
Today’s ordinary item comes from Jeremiah, one of Plain Writing’s earliest subscribers. This is a picture of his actual hat and well-worn backpack. These are the types of items that are easy to dismiss. I imagine the shelves of second-hand stores are full of them. But, can you see this hat as something more than ordinary? This is creativity - see below for more details on today’s prompt.
BTW - Do you have a photo of an ordinary item you’d like us to feature? Send me an email!

Where have you been?
A hat. Not a shiny new hat designed and produced by a hip company. A worn hat, inexpensively designed and produced.
Where have you been?
Today’s task: Tell the story of this hat.

Sometimes you just want a simple and quick answer rather than a 30-minute lecture on “it depends.” On this page, I give you plain answers to your most common copywriting, marketing, and brand strategy questions. I’ll be adding to this page on a regular basis.

Yeah, he's been a good friend. We've seen a lot together in our travels: high mountain summits, deep mountain lakes and many excellent pubs. We've had our tough times. Being left at the trailhead while he drove off didn't feel so great. But he came back to pick me up. Every inch of darkening sweat line represents another year of adventure, and I still see him smile when he puts me on.
